Tips and tricks at a glance
The essentials in brief, to look up.
- The toothbrush should be extra soft.
- The toothpaste should contain fluoride and as few coarse abrasives as possible.
- Use only your own toothbrush and change it after about six to eight weeks (that applies to the head of your electric toothbrush too). Do not scrub horizontally back and forth; loosen the deposits with light circular or jiggling movements.
- Do not work with pressure – that can harm the gums above all.
- Brush in the same order every time if you can, and do not forget a single tooth.
- It is best to start at the places that are hardest to reach.
- Brush each tooth individually.
- You should brush at least twice a day, and in any case before going to bed.
- Wait at least half an hour before brushing if you have had acidic food or drink. Acids attack the enamel and make it softer.
- Clean the spaces between the teeth thoroughly as well: with floss or interdental brushes.
- Guide the floss carefully up and down and keep it in contact with the tooth at all times.
- Do not press the floss into the gum.
