What distance is reasonable

A professional tooth cleaning is due once or twice a year, plus the check-up appointments. A journey of 20 to 30 minutes is considered usual. For anyone who needs a short rhythm – after periodontal treatment, for instance – proximity counts for more than it does for someone who comes twice a year.

How to recognise a suitable practice

A prevention department of its own with trained staff – ZMF, ZMP or dental hygienist. An oral hygiene status at the start, so that the success can be measured later. Instruction on your own teeth rather than on a model. And an appointment that ends with an agreement on when the next one is due.
